"My most recent paintings are a combination of photography and oil painting.

I begin by taking a great number of photographs, from which a general composition is created. This is sketched onto a canvas-covered panel, and selected images are printed in black & white and attached to portions of the image. The entire surface is then painted with a combination of oil-based pigment and translucent encaustic."

"I like to think of this series as a historical record, but not in a strictly photographic sense. Aspects which I find interesting or especially specific to this time in history are amplified, and the overall "view" is often a composite or abbreviated version. I'm especially interested in advertising, technology, and popular culture - and how they interact with visual art, memory, and perception."
